Tips and tricks to help keep your pet looking it’s best between groomings or in a time of need:
- Check your dog for ticks
- For long hair dogs use a slicker brush to remove any tangles. Brush down and out away from the dogs skin. Brush in the direction of how the coat grows.
- For short hair dogs use a rubber dog brush to remove any dead fur. Brush in the direction the coat grows.
- ONLY bathe your dog with dog shampoo. Human shampoo can irritate a dogs skin. Avoid getting soap in your dogs eyes.
- Make sure you rinse your dog thoroughly. If you think you got the shampoo out, rinse again to make sure.
- Put cotton in the dogs ear before the bath to prevent water from getting in the ear canal. Remember to remove it after the bath.
- Use a warm damp cloth or baby wipe to clean around the eyes. Dogs with folds in their face like pugs, bulldogs ect…need the folds in their face cleaned to prevent any infections and help eliminate bacteria.
- Be sure to check your Pets paws to make sure they are free of any foreign objects or wounds that could develop into an infection.
- Dental hygiene is important as well. Use a toothbrush and toothpaste made ONLY for dogs. Human toothpaste could be harmful and make your dog sick.
